Automatic Changeovers

Certainly NOT a me-too product

In 1964 the ITO Group was one of the first companies to develop automatic changeovers for LPG, since this date we have established a wide range of changeovers both in size , character and function. In October 2020 we recorded our 11 millionth (11,241,000+) sale of the range.

Throughout this time we have evolved the range adding more and more special features and benefits.

In 1989 we added our telemetry enabled function to allow remote monitoring of cylinder changeovers via a broad selection of interface options. Whenever one side of the installation empties and changes over a signal is sent to the local Gas Distributor or the Gas Company to alert them and arrange replacement and eliminate gas run outs. This replacement can be planned into journey plans, trucks schedules, and stock inventory; making the job of logistics simpler and more cost effective.

 (T)AX 10 OPSO

A further development to the range saw the addition of the (T)AX 10 OPSO. This is a 10 kg/hr automatic changeover which incorporates an Over Pressure Shut Off (OPSO) as an additional safety device. This OPSO trips when the outlet pressure exceeds 90 mbar and is a requirement in countries such as the UK, Ireland and Australia for installations of 2 or more cylinders per side.

Corrosion Resistance

The (T)AX range uses aluminum to give a lightweight but  highly corrosion resistant body. This protection is even more enhanced by the use of a Modified epoxy melamine alkyd resin coating* to provide the greatest possible defence from highly salty and chemical environments. It will not discolour of flake and will also offer a strong shield against mechanical attack.

We also adopt the ‘overlapping cover structure’  (The cover is larger than the body) and we apply a silicon seal around the joint to provide penetration of air and further prevention of salt attack. To prevent any rain water penetration we also equip rotating parts with ‘O’ rings, again offering total protection.

* The (T)AX 10 OPSO is protected by a Hydroxylated Acrylic Resin coating.

The inlets to our changeovers are equipped with roll shaped strainers which give 2.5 times more strainer area than standard disk shaped strainers. The mesh used has been changed to 305 from 200 which will catch fine sand or other particles – even if ¾ of the strainer is covered with foreign substances the performance of the regulator does not change. We place a larger space between cover and signal cap so that it can turn the handle easily when dirt etc. is caught in this space.

Vents and Breathers

The breather holes to the atmosphere are located at 3 Points (Yellow Parts in photo). So if one hole should become blocked by insects etc. then there are other breathers available and the regulator performance will not be affected. The breather for the low pressure section is integrated into the middle pressure section and again prevents holes from becoming blocked.

T for Telemetry

The ‘T’ in TAX stands for telemetry and each TAX product is telemetry enabled and will connect with most interfaces to give full remote telemetry.

Whenever one side of the installation empties and changes over a signal is sent to the home owner, the local gas distributor or the Gas Company to alert them and arrange replacement. This replacement can be planned into journey pans, truck schedules, stock inventory and many other processes to make the job of logistics simpler and much more cost effective.

The telemetry unit shown in the photograph is the Gaslog from Silicon Controls Limited the system also operates with other high quality systems such as the NETRIS from Sensile Technologies  please contact sales@ito-europe.com for more information on telemetry systems their advantages and software back-office support systems .

Definite Change

The ITO Changeovers incorporate a positive latching within the signal switching mechanism, there is therefore no hunting back and forth of the signal, a changeover is a changeover no errors. This is an imperative action with a telemetry function, changeovers which hunt and fluctuate can send false signals depending upon heat variation and other factors, resulting in wrong messages coming though, pointless journeys and worst of all customer run-outs, with the ITO signal mechanism you get one positive signal.
